When you apply for a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, your documents will be processed by InterCheck Australia (InterCheck Global Pty Ltd), a wholly owned subsidiary of Certn. InterCheck is an Accredited Body through the National Police Checking Service to conduct Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks.
InterCheck Australia must adhere to the National Identity Proofing Guidelines followed by the National Police Checking Service.
Before you start:
Before starting your application, you'll need to prepare three required identity documents from the three categories outlined in this article. You can only use each identity document once. The combination of the identity documents you provide must contain your full legal name, date of birth, and an image of you.
If you provide identity documents using a former name, such as a maiden name, you'll also need to provide evidence of the name change.
What you'll need:
- One "Commencement of Identity" Document
- One "Primary Use in the Community" Document
- One "Secondary Use in the Community" Document
Things to take into account when providing your ID:
- Photo ID: Your Primary Use in the Community Document must include your photo. If this cannot be provided, you must provide a passport-style photograph certified by a person listed in Schedule 2 of the Statutory Declarations Regulations 1993 (Cth).
- Change of name: The names on all your documents must match. If the names on your ID documents don’t match, you will also need to provide either a change of name certificate issued or an Australian marriage certificate issued by an Australian state or territory government department, in addition to the three identity documents.
- We are unable to accept church or celebrant-issued marriage certificates as these are not formally recognised as an ID document under the Australian National Identity Proofing Guidelines.
We'll also need to link you to your ID though one of these methods:
- Verification of your identity through our biometric solution, CertnID, which will remotely compare you to your photo identity document; or
- Requesting an image with you holding the presented photo ID against your face. The image must be taken in real time as part of the application process.
