What is a case?
A case includes one or more background checks that you’re asked to complete as part of your application. Your case might include checks like Identity Verification, Education or Employment Veriification , or a Criminal Record check. The company you are applying to determines which checks will be included in your case.
Each case is linked to your name and email address. You’ll get a unique invitation to start your case from Certn.
Case progress and status
Once you accept a case invite and initiate the application, it will go through a few stages in your applicant portal:
- Active: Your case is waiting for you to complete and submit it. Follow the steps in your dashboard to provide the required information and submit your application.
- In progress: After you submit your case, it will move to the History section of your dashboard. From there, you can track its progress. While your case is In progress, we may still be processing one or more of the checks, or we may be waiting for additional information from you. Please keep an eye on your email in case we reach out for additional information.
- Complete: All checks in your case have been completed, and your case is now ready for review by the company that requested it. You can view your results from the History section.
How to view your case
You can view your case by logging into the Applicant portal using the link in your Certn email.
From there, you’ll see:
- Any checks that have been sent and that you need to complete.
- Any checks that are in progress.
- Any checks that are complete.
Where to find your Case ID
Your Case ID is a unique number used to identify your background check. You might be asked for this when contacting support or reviewing your results.
You can find your Case ID in three places:
- In your invitation email: It's included in the Background Screening Request email you received inviting you to complete your background check.
- In the Applicant portal: The Case ID appears next to each active or completed case. Each case will have a unique Case ID.
- On your report: If your case has been completed, the Case ID will appear on the downloadable report.
What’s in your report?
Once your checks are complete, a report will be available.
Your report includes:
- Basic details like your name and Case ID.
- The results of each check in your case.
- A downloadable PDF copy of the report.
What happens after your case is complete?
After your case is finalized, you will have the opportunity to review the report via the Applicant portal. Additionally, the requesting company will have access to it through their own account.
