Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your CertnCentric account by requiring a second form of verification, such as a code from an authenticator app, in addition to your password.
What is MFA?
MFA (multi-factor authentication) is a security feature that asks you to verify your identity using more than one method. Typically, you enter your password and then confirm your identity using an authentication app, like Google Authenticator or Authy. This enhanced account security ensures that even if someone obtains your password, they will be unable to access your account without the additional verification factor.
Who can use MFA?
MFA is available for all CertnCentric client portal users. It is not available for applicants at this time.
There are two ways it can be enabled:
- My Account: Available to all users. You can turn MFA on or off for your own account.
- All Users: Available only to Admins and Managers. This enforces MFA for everyone in the organization.
Note: If All Users is enabled by an Admin or Manager, individual users will not be able to disable MFA for themselves
How to enable MFA
Turn on MFA for your own account
- Log in to your CertnCentric account.
- Go to Settings.
- Under the Account section, click Security.
- In the My Account section, toggle Enable MFA to on.
- On your next login:
- You’ll see a QR code.
- Open your authentication app and scan the QR code.
- Enter the 6-digit security code from the app.
- Once set up, you’ll only need to enter the security code each time you log in.
Enforce MFA for all users (Admins and Managers only)
- Log in to your CertnCentric Admin or Manager account.
- Go to Settings > Security.
- Under the All Users section, toggle Enable MFA to on.
- All users in your organization will be required to set up MFA on their next login.
Important: MFA will be mandatory for all users if this option is enabled. Individual users will not be able to turn it off.
Turning MFA off
You can turn MFA off from Settings > Security by toggling it off under My Account, unless the All Users setting is enabled.
If you turn MFA off:
- You won’t be asked for a security code at login.
- If you turn it back on later, your existing authenticator app setup will still work.
