What is client validation?
Client validation is a quick verification process that confirms your business is legitimate and authorized to request background checks. Validation helps protect applicants, ensures compliance with partner, regulatory, and industry standard requirements, and prevents misuse of background screening services.
Validation happens automatically when you sign up — in most cases, no action is required from you.
How client validation works
As part of the validation process, Certn confirms that your business details appear legitimate and consistent. This review includes, but is not limited to:
- Country eligibility
- Confirming that your business is not operating in a country where Certn services are restricted.
- Business registry verification
- Verifying your business information to ensure registration and active status in your country, while assessing potential flags, including sanctions.
If all reviews pass and you verify your email, you will be fully validated and able to view your reports.
What you need to do to get validated
In most cases, validation is automatic. To ensure your validation when signing up directly through our website, please follow these steps:
- Use a business email address (not Gmail, Hotmail, or temporary providers).
- Verify your email:
- You’ll receive a validation email after signing up.
- You have 14 days to verify your email.
- You can continue placing orders during this time, but can’t view results until your email is verified.
- Watch for follow-ups from our team:
- If anything needs additional review, we’ll contact you with the necessary next steps.
- You’ll have 30 days to complete any required steps.
Turnaround time for validation
- Immediate if there are no flags and your email is verified.
- Up to 30 days if manual review is required.
- You can continue using most of Certn during the process.
If a manual review of your Company is triggered, here’s what happens:
- You’ll get an email with next steps.
- You can still place orders during the review period.
- You can’t view results until email verification and/or manual validation is complete.
- If your email address isn’t verified or validation isn’t completed within 30 days, your access may be paused until your account validation is complete.
