Learn how to enable or disable non-biometric identity verification in CertnCentric, including how to manage the automatic fallback from OneID to Interac® ID verification.
Note: Non-biometric identity verification is only available to applicants with a Canadian address and a Canadian bank account.
Non-biometric identity verification allows eligible applicants to verify their identity using their Canadian online banking credentials instead of completing biometric verification with a government-issued ID and selfie.
How does the non-biometric identity verification setting work?
Non-biometric identity verification is enabled by default in CertnCentric.
The Allow Interac® ID verification non-biometric fallback for OneID setting controls whether applicants are automatically redirected to non-biometric identity verification when OneID verification fails.
- Enabled: Eligible applicants who fail OneID verification are automatically redirected to non-biometric identity verification. An additional fee applies.
- Disabled: Applicants who fail OneID verification are not automatically redirected to non-biometric identity verification. However, eligible applicants can still manually select the alternative verification method.
How do I enable or disable non-biometric identity verification?
To update your non-biometric identity verification settings in CertnCentric:
- Log in to your CertnCentric client account.
- Navigate to Settings and select Check settings.
- Under Identity Verification, locate Allow Interac® ID verification non-biometric fallback for OneID.
- Set the toggle to On to enable automatic fallback or Off to disable it.
- If disabling the setting, a confirmation window will appear. Select Disable to confirm your choice.
- A confirmation message will appear once your changes have been saved.
You can enable or disable this setting at any time. Changes will automatically apply to applications already in progress.
Can applicants still use non-biometric identity verification if the setting is disabled?
Yes. Disabling the automatic fallback setting does not prevent eligible applicants from manually selecting non-biometric identity verification.
Applicants with a Canadian address and Canadian bank account can choose the alternative verification method during their background check application, even when automatic fallback is disabled.
When this feature is enabled, eligible applicants who fail OneID verification will be seamlessly redirected to a Non-Biometric Identity Verification process for an additional fee.
