What are report IDs?
Report IDs are eight-character, alpha-numeric, case-sensitive identifiers associated to each application that you order. Report IDs provide a way to uniquely identify an application that is separate from other identifiers, like your candidate’s name or email address.
Where do report IDs appear?
Report IDs appear in your Certn dashboard, in reports you receive when background checks are completed, and in email communications.
In your Certn dashboard, report IDs appear in the Report ID column:
Tip: To quickly copy a report ID to your clipboard, select next to the report ID. Then, you can easily paste the report ID into any text field, such as in a request to our Support team.
In reports, the report ID appears at the top of the report:
In email communications, the report ID appears below your candidate’s name:
How can I use report IDs?
A unique report ID becomes available as soon as you complete an order for background checks. This means that you can use the report ID to refer to a specific application even if your candidate has not yet completed and submitted the application.
The following are some example scenarios when it is helpful to use report IDs:
- Searching for applications: Your Certn dashboard has a search feature that you can use to filter applications. You can use search by a report ID to quickly locate a specific application.
- Managing candidate applications: If a single candidate has multiple applications, you can use their report IDs to keep track of which is which. You can do this even when the applications are divided across multiple teams.
- Getting support: If you need help from our Support team, you can provide the report ID of the application you need help with. This allows our Support team to locate the application faster than searching by candidate name or email address.
