As part of our ongoing investment in the CertnCentric platform, we'll be retiring our legacy APIs later this year.
If your organization currently uses the legacy Certn APIs, you'll need to migrate to the CertnCentric APIs before August 5, 2026 to ensure your integration continues to work.
Deprecated API: All endpoints in this API are deprecated as of April 13, 2026. This API will no longer be available on August 5, 2026. During this phase, the API will continue to function as normal, however, no new updates other than security bug fixes will be made. It is not recommended to use this API. Alternatively, please use the new CertnCentric APIs.
To understand the differences between this and the new CertnCentric API, please read our Legacy migration guide.
What is changing?
Beginning April 13, 2026, the legacy Certn APIs are officially deprecated.
The legacy APIs will remain fully operational until August 5, 2026 at 12:00 PM PT.
After this date, they will no longer be available.
Who is affected?
This change only affects customers who currently integrate directly with Certn using the legacy APIs.
If you're unsure whether your organization uses the legacy APIs, please contact your Customer Success Manager or Certn API Support via apisupport@certn.co.
This change does not affect you if you integrate with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
What do I need to do?
If you use the legacy APIs, you'll need to migrate your integration to the CertnCentric APIs before August 5, 2026. Visit our Migrating Legacy Integrations Guide to learn more.
What happens if I don't migrate?
After August 5, 2026 at 12:00 PM PT, the legacy APIs will be retired.
Integrations that have not been updated will no longer function. API requests will return an HTTP 410 (Gone) response, and legacy webhooks will stop sending events.
Are all background checks available in the CertnCentric APIs?
Yes. All background check types previously available through the legacy APIs are now supported in the CertnCentric APIs.
Can I test my integration before going live?
Yes. Existing legacy API customers can request access to a complimentary CertnCentric sandbox environment to build and test their integration before migrating to production.
Sandbox requests are typically processed within three business days.
Can I continue building new integrations on the legacy APIs?
No. As of April 13, 2026, all new API integrations should be built using the CertnCentric APIs. New access to the legacy APIs will no longer be provided.
Will exceptions be made?
We recognize that some organizations may require additional time to complete their migration.
In select circumstances, migration extensions may be considered for qualifying customers. If you believe your organization may need additional time, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager or Certn Support as early as possible to discuss your situation.
