SSN Discrepancies: Tier 1 US Criminal Record Checks

Summary of Changes

Effective immediately, clients will no longer be notified via email for SSN Discrepancies on Tier 1 US Criminal Record Checks on CertnLegacy. Instead, Certn's team will note the SSN Discrepancy directly in the "Notes" section of the check result in the portal. 

What is an SSN Discrepancy?

An SSN Discrepancy occurs when the Social Security Number (SSN) provided by the candidate does not align with available official records, or when there is a discrepancy between the candidate’s name or date of birth and the information associated with the SSN during the initial identity review.

Important Notes

• Always review the Notes tab inside the portal for specific verification findings before reaching out to support.
• Previously, clients would have received an email stating:

"While completing their screening, it was determined that there is a discrepancy in the SSN, name or date of birth that the candidate provided in their onboarding session..."

• You will continue to receive email notifications for Tier 2 and Tier 3 US Criminal Record Checks.
